Rules and Regulations

Iron Horse 2010 Ultra 100 - Rules and Regulations:

1. The course runs through private and public lands. We worked hard to get access to these properties and are very thankful, so please use respect while on these properties. There will be disposal facilities at all the stations.

2. Race Starts at 6:00 am Saturday May 1, 2010 for the 100 km and 100 mile events.

3. Race numbers must be visible at all times; runners will be required to show them to race officials on request. Numbered TAGS must be presented at each aid station/ check point and before the exchange between runners. Each tag is recorded to track the teams or soloist progression, so don’t lose the marker or your group will be disqualified from the race.

4. Runners should be prepared to carry what they need between aid stations.

5. Please stay on the trail because some of the course is in environmentally sensitive areas. Course will be marked with special race ribbons.

6. Always be aware of wildlife and care should also be taken around domestic animals.

7. There will be washrooms or port-a-potties at all aid stations.

8. Aid Stations will have water, a sports drink, pop and a hot drink. There will be a selection of food and snacks offered.

9. Drop bags are allowed but are the responsibility of the runners or their support group, exceptions can be made by special request.

10. There will be a first aid station at all aid stations, with a technical responder available to help runners. There will be an Ambulance on stand by for the race.

11. As a runner you will be directed to check in and out at all aid stations. This is required.

12. There will be cut off points at various stages of the race and race officials can remove a runner from the race, if they feel an injured runner is putting themselves in jeopardy or they don’t make the cut off times. Racers that don’t make the final cut off time (end of race) will be allowed to finish but will not receive a finishing time or a finishing award.

13. Runners can receive help on the course from other runners, but under no means can be carried. Please tell an official if someone needs assistance.

14. Please refrain from bringing pets or motorized vehicles on the course (trails are multi-use so caution should be used at all times).

15. If you are running at night or think you might be, a headlight or flashlight will be required after sunset; officials will remove any runner without one! No exceptions. Safety glasses and proper footwear are also recommended for all runners.

16. Prepare for the weather. As you know in Alberta in May, it can be 20C (70F) during the day and 0C (32F) at night. Also you better expect the unexpected, it always could snow!!!!

17. There will be a place for runners and their crews to get warm at all the Aid stations.

18. Awards ceremony will be on Sunday May 2, 2010. Time and place will be determined closer to the race.
